One of the goals in this whole “letting go” business was so that we could find peace. But peace with what?

Peace with your neighbor? with your spouse? with your friend? Nope, this is all about finding peace within yourself.

How do we do that?

We don’t.

We quiet our hearts enough to find the peace of Christ : see these verses:

“and let  the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. and be thankful.” Col.3:15

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” Phil.4:7

“For God is not a God of confusion but of Peace” 1 Cor.14:33

Peace is a gift. A gift we can seek from Him who gives freely.

This whole business of “artfully letting go” has been a process to quiet ourselves enough to find this gift. To find this peace. Sometimes the only way I can get my brain to shut up long enough is to do something creative. sometimes it takes a little thanksgiving walk like we did yesterday, sometimes it takes painting for hours on end to be able to find moment of quiet, to be able to seek  His peace. For each of us it’s going to be different. Some people can find peace every single time they sit down to pray. Some of us it takes a lot of letting go of all the stuff we’re holding onto to finally be free to quiet ourselves before our Lord.

a huge part of letting go i’ve learned, is to learn the art of being still.

“Be still, and know that I am God;   I will be exalted among the nations,    I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

hopefully, this month of letting go has given you a chance to “be still” and let go and find peace… :)
