sometimes we just need to have random conversations… you know, driving home from work and we start talking about how bad our dog’s breath smells? or if you got turned into a bug, what kind would you be?

or when we’re talking over coffee and we start talking about life…

let’s pretend we’re doing that. sitting with a cup of chai tea for me, and what for you? mocha? latte? you pick, i’m buying :) so, we’re talking about life. random little thoughts, but real, very real life.

we start talking about how crazy this weather has been! we lived through an earthquake here on the east coast last week! and then we had a crazy hurricane/flood filled weekend. i definitely got out the rain boots :) and did some exploring. we made it through.

and we’re sitting here talking about the little things.

ooo, do you here that song playing? it’s a new favorite! it’s totally been blaring on my radio : Honey Bee  {probably because it’s just too darn cute…) Dear everyone who hates Country music, why the hate? :)} but talking about songs, here’s another song that’s been stuck in my head: Christ is Risen (probably because my Husbuddy has been learning how to play it on guitar for worship on Sunday)

then we start talking about pinterest. i’ve been completely obsessed. it’s inspired me a ton but then it’s also eaten up way too much time…this picture is hilarious. this picture is just wrong. if you want to follow me on pinterest, you can find me here.

{doh, my chai is already almost gone!}

talking about random stuff, we turn to matters of the heart.  HOW are you doing? seriously? I mean, we’re so good at saying, “how are you?” to every stranger we meet, but how often do you say anything back besides “good.” ?? what does “good” mean?

it’s the new “nice.” remember how in elementary school we weren’t allowed to say “nice” to describe something? “nice” was too normal and way too overused in 2nd grade! {your mary jane shoes are “nice”, Abby. That cat is “nice.” Mrs. B is nice. i like apples because they’re nice.(?)…. you get the picture.}

Well, here’s the new deal, you’re not allowed to say “good” when you’re answering a friend who asks you how you’re doing. PERIOD.

be real, dear One! how are you doing, REALLY?

is life exhausting?

do you have time to rest?

are you feeling blessed with all that’s in your life?

or are you struggling with even having any happy thoughts during the day because you’re sad?

it’s so important to be real, even in the random conversations. i’m here to listen. i’m here to pray for you. and i’m here to encourage you to find friends with whom you can be real.  and don’t be afraid to ask  the real questions first! :) you’ll be amazed at how their yearning for you to ask just as much as you are for them to ask you.

me? thanks for asking! i’m feeling full of peace. i’m content with where i am right now, i’m looking forward to moving on (eventually) once husbuddy finishes school… but he still has a couple more years. so right now i’m trying to enjoy the little moments. i wish i did more art (i know, right?!) but i know that being with people is more important.

i had a friend in college who told me she always put people ahead of doing homework because even though homework is important, people are the most important part of life.  and somehow, if she had her priorities right like that, she’d always get her homework done! AMEN.

i want to be more like that, so i’ve been intentional about giving time to people, to friends who just need to run to the mall or need to chat for a few moments in their crazy day or to my husbuddy who just needs to play a game with me. those relationships are the most important thing in life, because God created each of one of those special people. it’s good to be reminded of that every once in a while. so, instead of getting upset with myself that i haven’t had time to do a lot of the things i’ve wanted to, i praise God for each special person in my life who inspires my time.

anyway, another random thought, when i need a little encouragement sometimes i go HERE. I read this post recently from there: grace the good girl. YES. i’m totally that good little girl who needs that grace. :) totally awesome and so real. go check it out, friend!

so, this little coffee date was very random. but my heart was yearning for some randomness today. ! let’s do this again soon! next time, you’re buying :)

please feel free to send me a note, i’d love to hear from you!

xoxo- kimberly renee.
