WOW!

I just received an email that looked like this:

Now Available for Purchase: The First USGBC LEED Platinum Factory-Built Home in New York State

LEED Platinum Home for Sale

a LEED modular home! impressive. and very interesting.  check out their blog: New World Home

See? It doesn’t look too hard to build respectably. If a modular factory can do it. So can the everyday building. come on people. :p

Ok, so it’s early and I’m being cranky. But seriously. It’s important to think about being sustainable. And I’m not saying that every building should go for a “LEED award”. I’m just saying that maybe we could make conscious choices in our designs or even as a home owner/buyer to be smart about sustainability.  Buildings in America have a huge environmental impact. I’m not normally super political or opinionated, but when you are in a profession that deals with a huge percentage of natural resources, it’s important to think about.

Here are a few of the facts: United States buildings account for

  • 40% of US energy
  • 13% of water consumption
  • 68% of electricity consumption
  • 39% of carbon dioxide emissions

To see more states go to USGBC (united states green building council-which is the council that administers LEED awards to buildings who are green)

or just research it and you’ll find it all over the place.

Just something interesting for you think about on this friday morning. :)

xoxo
