here is one of my latest paintings. it was commissioned by a friend from church. she said that this is her and her husband’s life verse and she wanted to give this to him for Christmas! {that is why i waited until after Christmas to show you! – i didn’t want to ruin any surprise}
Psalm 121:1-2 ” I lift my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My helps comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth”
i made puppycakes sit there while i took the pictures so there was some frame of reference for HOW BIG this canvas is!
but then he got bored.
it was really fun to make and now i wish i had one of my own. i love that the verse has special meaning to the family. so neat. so… guess what i’ll be doing soon? ;)
go HERE to learn how to make one of these awesome verse paintings(or subway art, if you’re cool enough to call it that) for yourself!
have you heard this song by Addison Road?? click HERE to listen to Change in the Making and take a moment to be quiet and think about the words with me.
i love these words from the song:
There’s a better version of me
That I can’t quite see
But things are gonna change
Right now I’m a total mess and
Right now I’m completely incomplete
But things are gonna change
Cause you’re not through with me yetThis is redemption’s story
With every step that I’m taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I’m a change in the makingWish I could live more patiently
Wish I could give a little more of me
Without stopping to think twice
Wish I had faith like a little child
Wish I could walk a single mile
Without tripping on my own feet
But you’re not through with me yetFrom the dawn of history
You make new and you redeem
From a broken world to a broken heart
You finish what you start in everything
Like a river rolls into the sea
We’re not who we’re going to be
But things are going to changeI’m living redemption’s story
With every step that I’m taking
And every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
And this is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I’m a change in the makingI’m not who I’m gonna be
Moving closer to your glory
so beautiful. so encouraging. i am a mess and sometimes i get really upset about the fact that i don’t have it all together. i get mad and annoyed. i’m impatient. i don’t have the perfect kept house or make the best meals every single night…. the list goes on.
thankfully, God is working on me, i’m living a redemption story, i’m under construction. One day, God is going to fulfill His purpose in me and i’m on the path to that. Even if i’m not perfect.
Praise Jesus.
{and yes. that photo is completely random. no excuse ;)}
We’re off to Seattle for a few days to visit family and had to say goodbye to this guy this morning. Oh man, he’s our little fur baby. Don’t judge me :p
on Sunday, after church, we decided to take The City by storm with a couple of friends.
this is how the day started: friend N being silly and Husbuddy wearing my purse. yup. This is going to be fun.![]()
after almost dying in a taxi-cab, we made new friends with a nutcracker:![]()
from there we went to the MoMA:![]()
where we saw my favorite painting: Starry Night by VanGogh ![]()
and my favorite chair by McIntosh and some cool architecture:
Then we walked up to Central Park
it was beautiful, but we weren’t there to take in the sites. we were there to ice skate!
awe, who knew that ice skating, in central park, in the evening, with all the pretty lights, at Christmas-time could be so romantic?![]()
o wait, I totally had a hunch and was determined to find out. :)![]()
after dinner at a little french bistro, we also stopped by and said hi to the tree :)
{which probably came to us care of Washington State…kinda funny that that’s where we’ll be in a few days!}![]()

yup, found my favorite flute player from last year! {I think maybe my pictures from last year were better?}
let’s see, how many pictures can we get in front of a sparkly tree??
Husbuddy was tired of pictures at this point. but he was just too cute and the lighting too pretty to stop.
what can I say? I’m a sucker for the magic of sparkly lights. ![]()
it’s that time of year. everyone’s busy. i really can’t complain about being too busy,because it’s so exciting to have orders for my little shop. but it has been a little crazy -there just is not enough time in a day!
so it’s nice to take a moment and reflect on grace.
i love that one sweet customer asked if i could customize her canvas for her(um, of course!!) and wanted me to put ephesians 2:8 underneath the big letters. SO. BEAUTIFUL. i only wish i had spaced it out better so i could get the rest of the verse…}
“for by grace you have saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, but a gift of God.”
because it IS A GIFT. a gift like the gifts that we’re packing up and mailing away to friends and family far away. Grace is a gift. not something i earn or work hard enough to get. it’s so important to remember that.
so even in the craziness of lists and cooking and painting and lines at the post office and things to do…
it is by grace i have this life, that i know where i belong …
and by the grace of God that i’m so lucky to have the best husbuddy in the world! {he’ll even get his hands busy to help me out with the wrapping, which he claims to be the “worst in the world” at.}
he was a wrapping and packaging maniac last night and then a post office delivery person today! {i love you sweetheart!}
all of his help gave me time to finish these:
my life is a gift. these moments are a gift of grace.
i’m thankful for God’s GRACE which has saved me from myself.
i’m thankful that HIS GRACE that IS THE reason for the season.
Take a breather and think about grace with me today, will you?

if you support to PETA or something, you may want to avert your eyes.
at least, that’s what PuppyCakes would ask of you…
he’s a little embarrassed, you see…![]()
we got out the Christmas lights tonight and had some fun practicing with our camera! :)![]()
our little model was a very good boy.![]()
![]()
…even when he was so confused about what the heck we were doing…![]()
I LOVE twinkle lights, don’t you?!
